Kathy's 'Found Money' Rule

My throat is hurting and I can't bring myself to call the cancer center. It's been hurting for a week and, weirdly enough, I also can't bring myself to look at it with a flashlight. They say to call about that, but given how everything else goes, it doesn't seem worth the trouble. I think I'm just sick and tired of paying attention to every little thing that goes on with my body. I just want to stop and be a normal person...you know, not so self-obsessed.

I've been thinking about a project I wanted to do (good way to get my mind off my body) and tonight I talked to Kathy about it over dinner. I'd like several hundred dollars to get started on it, but I don't really want to use household funds for the project. Since I'm on hiatus with my clients while I go through cancer treatment, I'm also not earning significant income. So, I was brainstorming alternatives with her.

That's when Kathy came up with the ‘found money rule.' This rule states that if I do something to recover or get money that we would not have otherwise, it's considered ‘found money' and I can spend it how I choose. Given that finding money is a skill of mine, this seems like a good deal. Kind of gets my mind moving. Between sending in rebates, digging up paperwork that gets us a refund or a discount, or whatever, I regularly save us all sorts of money.

Now that my mind is moving on this idea, I've already started a spreadsheet where I'm listing all the ways I can generate this 'found money.' I'm kind of hoping this is a race, because I like the challenge. How much time do I have?
