Farewell to Small Business Operative

Yesterday I closed my small business consultancy, The Small Business Operative. It was a sad decision to make as I have put enormous amounts of effort into the business over the years, but it was the right decision at the right time. I have new adventures that I am moving onto and I need the freedom to explore them.

I haven't talked about my business on my blog, partly because I've been on hiatus while going through cancer treatment. Small Business Operative (SBO) grew out of a business I had before that, called Compass Point Solutions. I rebranded the business in 2003 to add more style, flair, and content. Tapping into one of my alter egos - the spy - made doing business a lot more fun; at least, for me!

The mission of the SBO was to help independent professionals achieve world domination. I love micro-businesses an enjoy helping them thrive. Toward that end, I offered a number of classes and informational products that explored marketing, positioning, operational efficiency, and product development for the very small service business. I worked with hundreds of students and coached many, many clients over the years. It has been rewarding to see people find ways to do the things they didn't think they could do.

Yet, it's time for me to leave business consulting behind and move onto other things. I have many books to write and lots of art to create. I always knew I had more to offer beyond the structure of Small Business Operative. Now I'm ready to make my next move.

I still have lots of good content for small business owners, as well as many products that I had outlined in detail for future development, so my guess is that these projects will still see the light of day, just in another venue. I have another site where I will offer how-to guides on many different topics; I'll let you know when I launch it.

For any former students or clients who are reading this message...thank you for having been part of my life! I was always inspired by what my clients and students brought to me. It has been an honor to be part of your journey toward your dreams. Keep watching this blog for news of my next ventures.
