Haul Anchor & Make Ready to Sail…for Vallejo!
San Francisco Bay Area residents - this weekend (June 16
& 17, 2007) marks the first Northern California Pirate Festival, held at
the Vallejo
waterfront. Running from 10 to dusk on Saturday, 10-6 on Sunday, the festival features
performers, contests, plenty of treasure sold by pirate vendors, the kind of
good food you can only get in port, and more. They say:
Whether you love nautical music, swordfighting, sailing, cannon-battles, theater, maritime crafts, food and drink, or just shopping fer' pirate booty...there's something here for YOU!
Good enough, mate! You can check out the details yerself at the NorCal Pirate Festival site.
I plan to go, but no, I will not be in costume. I'm just not a re-enactor at heart. Yes, it's true that I own a pricey replica of Captain Jack's tricorne hat, painstakingly made to fit the dimensions of my little head. And I do have the same headscarf as Jack. Oh, and the reproduction compass from Master Replicas. BUT, I don't dress up like Captain Jack Sparrow...not my thing. I like to enjoy my pirate accoutrements in private. Not "in the bedroom" kind of private, stop that! I mean, well, like all those times I met with clients by phone for business consulting and coaching. Yeah, half the time (when teaching teleconferences, too) I was wearing a pirate hat!
I'm hoping to find booty at the festival for my pirate office, as though it needs anything more. At least wardrobe options! If nothing else, I'm sure the adventure will warrant a blog entry. Stay tuned.

How cool is this!? I wanna go! what time shall I meet you guys:)
Lynne, I think I found a 3:30 am flight (Saturday morning) for you to take from Colorado to Oakland, CA. We can pick you up from the airport, go out for breakfast, and head to Vallejo for some raucous pirate fun. I will , of course, expect you to wear a costume, since I just can't be bothered and at least one of us should do it. ;-) I will let you wear my bandana but remember, no one touches the hat. No one.
See you Saturday morning!

How about if I wear the scarf...but, would my new swank sunglasses clash? Hmmmm might look weird! The hat would look way better with my shades...but, I am aware of the rules. No one...I mean NO ONE touches Alix's pirate hat:)
See ya Saturday:)
Where shall we breakfast?
