But I WANTED That Skin!
My skin has now started to peel off in the most painful way. People say, "it's like a sunburn, right?" I don't know, I never had a sunburn hurt this much when it peeled! My flesh is raw underneath, oozing, and I feel like a mutant.
They are now having me treat the areas that are moist with Domeboro solution. It's a powder that you mix with water; it smells like vinegar (well, its ammonium acetate). I dip a gauze sponge in the solution, lay that over my skin for 20 minutes, then remove that and put a gauze sponge with plain water on the spot for five more minutes. I repeat this three times a day. I guess the general idea is that whatever my skin is doing, we want to make it do the opposite. So, I use moisturizer (the aloe vera and Aqua Phor) everywhere it is dry and an astringent everywhere it is moist. Okay.
Today the patients I sit with in the waiting room told me that my daily fashion show of hair makes them happy. They say they look forward to seeing the new do each day. And here I thought I was just perking up the staff! I did an impromptu wig seminar for a couple of people in the exterior waiting room, which makes me think that I ought write a short guide on choosing wigs for the blog.
Thing is, I am SO tired lately. All bets are off on anything I plan to get done. I may have the best of intentions, but I'm likely to be found curled up in the corner of the loveseat, asleep.
