Magical Mystery Tour of Sue's Art Studio

Today, Kathy and I stopped by a garage sale at our friend Sue's house. Sue Astroth is an author who works at our favorite shop that sells all the artsy-craftsy bits that we use. Today was our first visit to her house, so she took a break from selling to give us a tour of her art studio.

Oh. My. God.

Tucked in her unassuming suburban home was the most amazing studio. I swear that if you crossed a magical apothecary with an art studio, it would look just like Sue's art room. No plastic Iris rolling carts for her, no, no. Her supplies were stored in big glass jars, shallow ceramic dishes, wooden card catalogs from old libraries—you name it, if it was a cool and vintage way to store art supplies, you'd find it in Sue's studio. Every square inch was covered in fascinating objects. Bowls of game pieces, jars of ribbon…it was a festival of art-making delight! I just wanted to stand quietly and look at everything for a long time.

I must confess that I was envious and felt very uncreative about my studio. Sue's studio looks like an art project all on its own. So what am I waiting for? I think I have a room makeover to plan!
