Paint me with butter
Today my painters started painting the interior of Kathy's house. I had to do an early run to Restoration Hardware to get some of the paint and the handyman picked up the rest. I opened up the house for them and met with them to discuss last minute decisions.
The colors we chose for the house are based exclusively on what will sell well; they are not colors I would use myself.
The living room, kitchen, hallway, and the office will be Restoration Hardware's Butter, a warm yellow color. Now, yellow is pretty much the prime anti-Alix color (I would probably get the shakes if I painted it in my own home) but I know the statistics on home buyers being attracted to yellow, so up it goes. The realtor specifically swears by Restoration Hardware's Butter, so after an investment of seven gallons (oh my!) we have a commitment.
For the master bedroom and bathroom I chose Golden Chartreuse, a fresh green color. It's hard to imagine what that color will actually look like on the walls, but I have a good feeling about it and it coordinates well with the Butter.
The second bedroom will be Swiss Cream. As to what color Swiss Cream actually is, well, you need to know that it's not white. No, no, if you want white from Kelly Moore, you choose Swiss Coffee. That's the color we are using on the ceiling and all the trim. If you want a light browny-taupey color, you choose Swiss Cream.
What kind of sense does this make? I DON'T KNOW.
I'm not sure if the source of the problem is Kelly Moore or the Swiss, but you can be sure that I'm not ordering coffee at the paint store OR in Switzerland. I wouldn't know how to answer "Do you want cream in your coffee?"
"Um, it depends on your definition...eh...."
Meanwhile, stay tuned for before and after pictures. I think it's going to be dramatic.
