Size DOES Matter!

Yesterday I got rid of the monstrous entertainment center that I've been moving from place to place since the mid-eighties. Monstrous to me is 5 ft high, 5-1/2 feet wide and 20 inches deep, with enough MDF in its construction to make it weigh a ton.

Big 1980-style cherrywood entertainment center

Normally I'd find someone who wanted it, but this entertainment center is not of much use to anyone, so I called my hauler friends to help out. I managed to move it 20 feet to the door (thank you, Teflon furniture pads) and they took care of the rest. I thought I'd be sorry to see it go -- I do get attached to things -- but instead I was ready to do a little dance. Besides, the hauler said my house was cute. You know how crazy I get around haulers.

Today, Circuit City delivered the plasma TV we won. Of course, there is nothing to put it on, so it will sit on the floor for now. But we decided we'll mount it to the wall rather than invest in an entertainment center that would bust our budget. The Circuit City guys said they'd be happy to do it for $450. I managed to hold my hysterical laughter back when I said, no, it's okay, I will do it myself. No one believes me when I say that -- except Kathy -- but I'm sure I can do it myself. Just...not today.

In the meantime, OMIGOD, 42-inches is BIG! YOWSAH! I'm a happy, happy girl. Now, what to watch first?
