Talkin' 'bout Lady Business

Angela Kinsey, who plays Angela Martin on the US version of The Office, was on Conan O'Brien just last night. Because I like this actress and read Angela's blog, I made sure to watch it. As it turned out, she was hysterically funny. Angela is from North Texas and she had some great stories to share about her first time in New York City (as an intern on the Conan O'Brien show, ironically enough) and her early jobs.

One of the funniest things she shared was about how she used to work at 1-800-DENTIST. She said that most of the people who would call in were pretty nice, but there was this one problem guy who would call regularly. She said he always wanted to talk to them about their "lady business." Another 1-800-DENTIST rep would tell Angela, "Just transfer him to me!" and she would happily talk about her lady business. But she got fired.

Well, the second I heard "lady business," my ears pricked right up. Now THERE is a good term! I knew I had to make it my own. It was just brimming with potential to simplify my life. Gosh, if I had "lady business" in my vocabulary when I went through chemo, it would have made some conversations with the UCSF nursing staff a whole lot easier.

Although, I can already hear what the response would be from the chemo nurse on the other end of the line, "Uh, and where did you say this rash was again? In what business?"

Hee, hee, hee. Well, there you go, now you have more info than you wanted about what chemotherapy did to me, but you also have the bonus of the term "lady business!" I dare you to use it today.

And remember, if this entry leaves you with a perverse desire to discuss your lady business with others, blame Angela Kinsey, not me. She started it.
