Who Says One Girl on Chemo Can't Put Up 9-1/2 Foot Blinds?

It is day 11 in chemo cycle #3. Day 11 is the day when I do ambitious things, like clean house or build something. Today, the goal was world domination through window treatments.

You see, we ordered shades for three of our windows a while ago. One is for my office window. The other two are for the kitchen windows which, in summer, get a nasty angle of evening sun that blinds me while I cook. We had nothing covering these windows, so we ordered honeycomb shades.

Because one of the kitchen windows is over 9-1/2 feet long, the box was really long. It's been sitting on our kitchen floor for weeks. Today I decided it was time to get rid of it. I crawled up on the tile counter (knees: ow!), hoisted up my Makita drill, and installed the many brackets into the window frame. I was little worried that I couldn't get the shade snapped into the brackets (given that there are five brackets I have to line up), but somehow, I did it. All three blinds are in place and the setting summer sun has been tamed!

Of course, now my arm is saying, "Um, could you WARN me before you do something like that again? Like, maybe, give me a month's head start and don't poison yourself during that timeframe?"

The entire time I was working upstairs, Tilly was crying down in the studio. Her cries sounded for all the world like, "I love my mommy so much and she just left me! MOMMY!" It's hard to argue with a cuddly tabby cat with enormous eyes.

A sorrowful gray tabby looks into the camera

But now Tilly is snuggled close to me and the new blinds are looking lovely on the windows. All is right with the universe. Yay!
